Im Jahr 2021 jährt sich der Geburtstag von Werner Düttmann, dem Planer der Mittelinsel und der Platz-Gestaltung – heute ein Gartendenkmal der Moderne – auf dem Ernst-Reuter-Platz, einhundertmalig.

Aus diesem Anlass werden von unterschiedlichen Organisationen verschiedene Ausstellungsformate, Publikationen und Veranstaltungen in Berlin verwirklicht.

Das BHROX bauhaus reuse befasst sich mit dem besonderen Bezug zum Ort mit einigen Formaten mit dem Thema:

• Bereits im Wintersemester 2020/2021 findet ein Seminar unter dem Titel «BERLIN IST VIELE STÄDTE. Der Architekt und Stadtplaner Werner Düttmann» am Lehrstuhl Architekturgeschichte + Architekturtheorie der UdK Berlin, Prof. Dr. Matthias Noell, in Zusammenarbeit mit Robert K. Huber (BHROX), statt.

 

• Ein Ergebnis des Seminars wird unter anderem eine gleichnamige Ausstellung im BHROX bauhaus reuse sein, die zum «Rundgang 2021» der UdK Berlin gezeigt wird.

 

• Zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung wird eine Buchpräsentation und Lesung stattfinden, die eine Neuerscheinung über Texte und Reden von Werner Düttmann vorstellt.

 

• Zudem leistet das Projekt zur denkmalgerechten Sanierung der Platzmöblierung auf dem Ernst-Reuter-Platz, die als Lehrbaustelle mit Auszubildenden der Knobelsdorffschule Berlin durch das BHROX bauhaus reuse in Förderung und Kooperation mit dem Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf und dem Landesdenkmalamt Berlin realisiert wird, einen Beitrag zur denkmalpflegerischen Befassung mit dem Bauerbe.

 

• Begleitend soll ein Audio-Feature das Bildungsprojekt zur Sanierung der Platzmöblierung dokumentieren und vorstellen.

 

• Zum Tag des offenen Denkmals am 12.09.2021 wird ein Fachvortrag zur Sakralarchitektur von Düttmann am Beispiel von St. Agnes gehalten, bereits mit einem digitalen Event im Frühjahr wird die Kirche St. Martin vorgestellt.

 

• Des Weiteren finden in Kooperation mit dem Brücke-Museum ein Tanzworkshop «Architecture in Motion» ¹ – im Rahmen des Programms von «Dancing on Ernst-Reuter-Platz» – und eine Kunstaktion mit der Kunsthochschule Weißensee statt.

 

• Eine digitale Info-Ausstellung (Info-Ort) im BHROX zur Entwicklung des Ernst-Reuter-Platzes gibt Einblick in die Geschichte, Planungen und Kontroversen am Ort.

 

Der Blick auf Düttmann am BHROX bauhaus reuse, an diesem besonderen Ort, soll zum Nachdenken und zu einem lebendigen und diskursiven Umgang mit Baukultur und baulichem Erbe anregen:

Absurd ist sie auch in der historischen Dimension, im Bewahren der überkommenen Orte und Räume, die wir lieben; denn wir bewahren sie nur, indem wir in ihnen leben, das heißt, indem wir sie verändern, doch wie bewahren wir verändernd, wie verändern wir bewahrend? […]

The year 2021 marks the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Werner Düttmann, the planner of the central island and the square design – today a garden monument of modernism – on Ernst-Reuter-Platz.

To mark the occasion, various organizations are realizing different exhibition formats, publications and events in Berlin.

The BHROX bauhaus reuse deals with the special reference to the place with some formats with the topic:

• Already in the winter semester 2020/2021, a seminar will take place under the title “BERLIN IS MANY CITIES. The Architect and Urban Planner Werner Düttmann” at the Chair of Architectural History + Theory at the UdK Berlin, Prof. Dr. Matthias Noell, in collaboration with Robert K. Huber (BHROX).

 

• One of the results of the seminar will be an exhibition of the same name at the BHROX bauhaus reuse, which will be shown at the “Rundgang 2021” of the UdK Berlin.

 

• The opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by a book presentation and reading introducing a new publication on texts and speeches by Werner Düttmann.

 

• In addition, the project for the renovation of the square furniture on Ernst-Reuter-Platz, which is being realized as a teaching construction site with trainees from the Knobelsdorffschule Berlin by BHROX bauhaus reuse in support of and in cooperation with the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and the Landesdenkmalamt Berlin, makes a contribution to the preservation of the building heritage.

 

• An accompanying audio tour will document and present the educational project for the renovation of the square furniture.

 

• For the Day of the Open Monument on 12.09.2021 there will be a presentation on the church architecture of Düttmann on the example of St. Agnes. In Spring will be a digital event with the example of St. Martin.

 

• Furthermore, a dance workshop “Architecture in Motion” ¹ – as part of the program of “Dancing on Ernst-Reuter-Platz” – and an art action with the Weißensee School of Art will take place in cooperation with the Brücke Museum.

 

• A digital information exhibition (Info-Ort) at BHROX on the development of Ernst-Reuter-Platz provides insight into the history, planning and controversies at the site.

The view of Düttmann at the BHROX bauhaus reuse, at this special place, is intended to stimulate reflection and a lively and discursive approach to building culture and architectural heritage:

It is also absurd in the historical dimension, in the preservation of the inherited places and spaces that we love; for we preserve them only by living in them, that is, by changing them, but how do we preserve changing, how do we change preserving?
