While we hope for a soon ending of the extraordinary conditions we’re in, we search for spatial strategies for the ‘after’.

“It means learning to select each segment of this so-called irreversible system, putting a question mark over each of its supposed indispensable connections, and then testing in more and more detail what is desirable and what has ceased to be so.” (Latour)

Bruno Latour’s questionnaire serves as an impetus to question the ‘back to normal’: instead, we want to take a critical look at the new realities of the crisis as a testing ground, mapping the spatial and lived alternatives and thus elaborating an inventory of potentials for the post-Corona city. Students from UdK built on their own experience during the Corona crisis and question aspects like working, living, living in the city, …: what spaces have gained importance? What potentials were discovered during the crisis? How did the crisis make spatial inequalities visible? Who has been excluded or isolated?

At BHROX we will present the results of the workshop and discuss the potential of critical mapping methods for the planning professions.

fem_arc poses and discusses relevant questions on the topics of women’s images, gender and equal rights, thus the fem_arc STUDIO and also the F_Walks organized by fem_arc fit into the framework of the festival “WIA – Women in Architecture Berlin 2021”.

Während wir auf ein baldiges Ende der außergewöhnlichen Zustände hoffen, in denen wir uns befinden, suchen wir nach räumlichen Strategien für das “Danach”.

“Es bedeutet, zu lernen, jedes Segment dieses sogenannten irreversiblen Systems auszuwählen, ein Fragezeichen über jede seiner vermeintlich unverzichtbaren Verbindungen zu setzen und dann immer genauer zu prüfen, was wünschenswert ist und was nicht mehr.” (Latour)

Bruno Latours Fragebogen dient als Anstoß, das “Zurück zum Normalen” zu hinterfragen: Wir wollen stattdessen die neuen Realitäten der Krise als Testfeld kritisch in den Blick nehmen, die räumlichen und gelebten Alternativen kartieren und so eine Bestandsaufnahme der Potentiale für die Post-Corona-Stadt erarbeiten. Studierende der UdK bauen auf ihren eigenen Erfahrungen während der Corona-Krise auf und hinterfragen Aspekte wie Arbeiten, Wohnen, Leben in der Stadt, …: Welche Räume haben an Bedeutung gewonnen? Welche Potenziale wurden während der Krise entdeckt? Wie hat die Krise räumliche Ungleichheiten sichtbar gemacht? Wer wurde ausgeschlossen oder isoliert?

Im BHROX werden wir die Ergebnisse des Workshops präsentieren und das Potenzial kritischer Mapping-Methoden für die Planungsberufe diskutieren.

fem_arc stellt und diskutiert relevante Fragen zu den Themen Frauenbild, Gender und Gleichberechtigung, somit fügt sich das fem_arc STUDIO und auch die von fem_arc organisierten F_Walks in den Rahmen des Festivals «WIA – Women in Architecture Berlin 2021».
