The BHROX bauhaus reuse is a pilot platform for the “Campus Charlottenburg”, which is a lighthouse project at the science location City West to promote the dialogue between science and civil society. “Campus Charlottenburg” was initiated by the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and the two universities Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) and Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK). The campus consists of a network of committed institutions based in Charlottenburg: from the cultural sector the German Opera, research institutions such as the Frauenhofer Institute and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) or organizations such as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The BHROX bauhaus reuse serves as a discourse forum, a showcase and to initiate transdisciplinary cooperation projects in science, art and best practice. For the “Campus Charlottenburg”, the year 2021 has started with the preparation of a series of stakeholder workshops with the cooperation partners of the network. The first of the workshops will take place on June 21st, 2021 at BHROX bauhaus reuse as a hybrid event.
The collaboration between academia, business, culture and the public is in line with the goals of the “New European Bauhaus” – for which BHROX is one of the official partners to promote collaborative structures that address the challenges for a “beautiful, sustainable, inclusive” future – and provides a mission statement and shared vision for the “Campus Charlottenburg”.
The stakeholder workshops include all partners of the “Campus Charlottenburg” with the aim to promote the visibility of the campus idea and joint activities. The focus is on cooperative projects in public space – on site at Ernst-Reuter-Platz, which lends itself as a central location and with the BHROX bauhaus reuse.
The workshops are to serve to inquire the interests of the involved ones as well as to point out the possibilities locally, possible conveyances and co-operation potentials. Based on this, ideas will be collected and concrete project perspectives, funding opportunities and next steps will be discussed. For this purpose, the partners of the campus should be offered a concrete implementation perspective, i.e. the responsible implementation of coordination, application and administrative services through the cooperation of TU Berlin, UdK Berlin, BHROX bauhaus reuse and the district office Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.
