The discussion series The Quality of the City (DQDS) dealt with the question of the quality of city and architecture as a built habitat. What are urban qualities, how can they be recognized, created and preserved? The city is not just the built, but the processes of its development and the interplay of the built environment and the structures and offers that can unfold in and between them that make up a good city.

The series, co-authored by the Bauhaus Archive/Museum of Design and Future Noise, took the joint project bauhaus reuse and the debate on the heritage and the handling of modernity as an opportunity, to negotiate complex topics of urban development both from a professional as well as a societal perspective. The place of talks with invited experts and the public was the temporary building bauhaus reuse on the grounds of the Bauhaus Archive. As a continuation and building on the three opening themes from the year 2015 (city and large settlements, the modernity of the city as well as city and culture) two further discussion events on the topics standards and planning culture took place in October and November 2016 in cooperation with the Berlin Chamber of Architects.
