DQDS 2017 – Großstadt-Narrative und Integration

Der Begriff der Metropole wurde in den großen Werken der Kunst und Literatur geprägt. Gleichsam basiert die Anziehungskraft großer Städte auf der medialen Kommunikation von Darstellungen und Vorstellungen. Die Veranstaltung hat kritisch die Entstehung und Funktion von Stadt-Narrativen geprüft. Wie entstand der Begriff der Metropole? Wie werden Narrative zu prägenden Meinungsbildern über Städte konstituiert? Welche Inhalte werden dabei vermittelt? Von wem und durch welche Kanäle? Wie definieren diese Narrative und Meinungsbilder wiederum die Städte in Beziehung zu gesellschaftlichen Konflikten, Integration und sozialem Raum? Können diese Narrative zu einer harmonischeren Gesellschaft beitragen? Untersucht werden sollte dies anhand moderner Großstadt-Narrative sowie den Aspekten unterschiedlicher Darstellungen des urbanen Raums in Film, Fotografie und Literatur.

Metropolitan-Narratives and Integration – In text, image and film

The concept of the metropolis was coined in the great works of art and literature. Likewise, the attractiveness of large cities is based on the media communication of representations and ideas. The event critically examined the emergence and function of city narratives. How did the concept of the metropolis arise? How do narratives constitute opinions about cities? What kind of content is conveyed? From whom and through which channels? How do these narratives and opinions/images define the cities in relation to social conflicts, integration and social space? Can these narratives contribute to a more harmonious society? The event examined this by means of modern urban narrative as well as the aspects of different representations of the urban space in film, photography and literature.
