Society / Societies – Differentiation and inclusion, an integrative process?
The topic of the society of society(s) is central, in order to deliberately discuss the concept of integration within the entire development of society and urbanization. Fundamental is the transformation of the premodern to the modern form of the representation of society and thus of integration itself. The complexity and differentiation of society and social systems is a consequence of the transformation process that modern societies have undergone. Can any form of integration be viewed and negotiated as a kind of scaling of this transformation?
The systemic and functional boundaries have become independent and universalized in the course of the development. However, it is possible for individuals to belong to different subsystems in different roles. Is it ideally a performative system? In addition, however, there are boundaries based on societal differences, such as income, possession, education or the consequences of structural change caused by globalization, tertiarisation or digitization. The societal affiliations, which are mainly linked to this – as decisive for every other facet of integration – are opposed to a performative understanding. The event questions the problem of integration between system boundaries and exclusion. Which criteria determine the ability to overcome, the scalability or transferability between systemic, functional, social and cultural boundaries?
