Open Call and Dialogue Series “Ideas Forum Sustainable City
Citizen participation is not a one-way street. It is not uncommon for innovative developments for a sustainable city to have their origins in ideas and debates that stem from civil society engagement. Instead of leaving it to the citizens alone to make these ideas heard through submissions and inquiries, the district office for urban development, construction and the environment, together with BHROX bauhaus reuse on Ernst-Reuter-Platz, will in the future take the opposite approach and inquire directly with its citizens:
Do you have an idea that can contribute to sustainable development in the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf? Is it in the social and cultural or in the ecological or in the economic area – or does your idea, in the best case, take all three aspects into account? Have you already formulated your idea, discussed it passionately with fellow campaigners, friends or colleagues and now want to introduce it into the urban policy discourse?
For this purpose, the “Ideas Forum Sustainable City” in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf will offer a direct and public dialog platform in the future. Once a quarter, the event will take place on Ernst-Reuter-Platz, in the temporary urban laboratory and transdisciplinary center BHR OX bauhaus reuse – as an on-site event or as a live stream on the Internet. Four times a year, a public call goes out to all citizens to present their ideas for the district to the city’s politicians. Interesting projects are selected from among the concepts submitted, presented at the Ideas Forum and discussed with Oliver Schruoffeneger, District Councillor for Urban Development, Construction and the Environment, representatives from the district office and guests.
The conditions for participation are very simple: The ideas should correspond to the goals of sustainable urban development (Agenda 21), be located in the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and have a realistic implementation reference. The ideas must be submitted in advance – see closing date – and formulated to such an extent that these criteria can be checked in advance. A selection of the submitted concepts will be given the opportunity to be presented and discussed with representatives from the district council and guests at each forum. All remaining submissions that meet the above criteria will be displayed in an exhibition. No financial support or commitment to implementation is associated with the selection.
Submissions should be made electronically by email to the following address: info@bauhaus-reuse.de.
For each idea, a maximum of four DIN A4 pages (including illustrations) in pdf format should be submitted, as well as a video or audio file (optional in each case) with a maximum duration of three minutes.
