As part of the Berlin-wide festival “WIA – Women in Architecture Berlin 2021” the exhibition «FRAU ARCHITEKT*IN» will be shown at BHROX bauhaus reuse, organized by TU Berlin, Architekturmuseum Berlin and Architektenkammer Berlin in cooperation with bauhaus reuse BHROX | zukunftsgeraeusche & Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The exhibition will be opened with a vernissage on June 17 at 6:00 pm. The program at BHROX will be supplemented by events accompanying the exhibition, with a panel discussion on June 17 and a finissage on July 8, as well as feminist audio walks «F_Walks» by the group fem_arc on June 5 and July 3. The program points for the WIA festival at BHROX bauhaus reuse connect to the thematic focus «Modern Emancipation», under which BHROX has been dealing with social emancipation, women’s emancipation and gender justice in the development of modernism until today and in the context of building culture, urbanism and architecture on a long-term basis since 2019.
«WIA Berlin 2021» is the first festival in the capital on the topic of “Women in Architecture” and will be organized by the Berlin Network of Women Planners n-ails e.V. and the Berlin Chamber of Architects from 01 June to 01 July 2021. Over 60 digital and/ or live events – such as exhibitions, film series, guided tours, symposia, lectures as well as workshops – will take place at various locations in Berlin. Thus, the festival offers a space for the examination of works by women. The focus is on topics such as “Building Site Equality”, «Parity Building Culture» and «Reconstruction Occupational Image». WIA Berlin sees itself as a platform for professional networking and aims to inspire planners, for example, to take the step into self-employment or to work in management positions. The festival’s patron is Regula Lüscher, Senate Building Director and State Secretary in the Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing. More than 20 institutions are involved in WIA Berlin.
