Die Ausstellungsreihe, bestehend aus fünf Kapiteln, zeigt die Bauten und Zusammenhänge der Moderne von Lviv bis Kharkiv von der Zwischenkriegszeit bis zur Postmoderne anhand von historischen und aktuellen Fotoserien sowie unterschiedlichen inhaltlichen Schwerpunkten zu Forschungsständen, baukulturellen und historischen Kontexten und Protagonist*innen der Moderne.

Der Special Focus wird gemeinsam präsentiert von der Triennale der Moderne in Berlin mit DOCOMOMO international und ICOMOS, gefördert durch das Bundesministerium für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen.

Die Triennale der Moderne ist ein überregionales Festival zur Baukultur und Ideengeschichte der Moderne, in Berlin, Dessau und Weimar und mit weiteren Netzwerkstädten. Die vierte Ausgabe des Festivals mit dem städteübergreifenden Motto «Wohnen.Arbeiten.Leben» startet mit der Auftaktveranstaltung «Vielfalt Moderne | Moderne Vielfalt» am 30. September und 01. Oktober 2022 in Berlin.

Die Triennale der Moderne 2022 in Berlin wird gefördert mit Mitteln der LOTTO-Stiftung Berlin, des Landesdenkmalamts Berlin und des Bundesministeriums für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen (BMWSB).

Special-Focus – Moderne in der Ukraine
5-teilige Ausstellung: MODERN ROOTS AND HERITAGE OF KHARKIV AND LVIV

Die Ausstellung zeigt die Bauten und Zusammenhänge der Moderne in Kharkiv und Lviv von der Zwischenkriegszeit bis zur Postmoderne, bestehend aus einem Zyklus von fünf Ausstellungsteilen bzw. Kapiteln. Anhand von heutigen Fotoserien von drei Fotograf*innen sowie unterschiedlichen inhaltlichen Schwerpunkten zu Forschungsständen, baukulturellen und historischen Kontexten und Protagonist*innen werden, entsteht ein vielfältiger zeitgenössischer bis aktueller Einblick. Die fünf Ausstellungsteile, die aufbauend auf den Arbeiten mit vier Partner*Innen aus der Ukraine und einem Partner aus Polen konzipiert und realisiert werden, werden als eine zusammenhängende Ausstellung im Wechsel gezeigt. Die Objekte sind eine Zusammenstellung aus aktuell vor Ort aufgenommenen Fotoarbeiten, Objekten aus Sammlungen, aus neu konzipierten Inhalten und Wiederaufnahmen aus bestehenden Ausstellungen mit Fotografien, Plandarstellungen, Grafiken und Modellen. Wobei die fotografischen Arbeiten einen besonderen Stellenwert einnehmen und einen starken visuellen Eindruck hinterlassen.

Damit geben die Ausstellungsteile einen Ein- und Überblick aus der Baugeschichte und der aktuellen Situation zu den Wurzeln und dem Erbe der Moderne in der Ukraine. Die Städte Kharkiv und Lviv stehen dafür exemplarisch und nicht nur für den baukulturellen Bestand der Moderne in der Ukraine, sondern auch für die unterschiedlichen Akteur*innen und ihre Arbeit im gegenwärtigen Umgang mit dem Erbe, dessen Geschichte und Zukunft.
Ergänzend zu den Ausstellungsinhalten werden aktuelle Entwicklungsstände von digitalen Medien-Projekten aus Kharkiv und Lviv vorgestellt, zur Erfassung, Kartierung und webbasierten Vermittlung von Baubestand, Geschichte und gegenwärtiger Situation des modernen Bauerbes, in Form von interaktiven Anwendungen bzw. Online-Maps, die ebenso vor Ort während der Ausstellung zur Nutzung angeboten werden.

Special-Focus – Modernism in Ukraine
5-part exhibition: MODERN ROOTS AND HERITAGE OF KHARKIV AND LVIV

The exhibition shows the buildings and contexts of Modernism in Kharkiv and Lviv from the interwar period to postmodernism, consisting of a cycle of five exhibition parts or chapters. With the help of today’s photo series by three photographers as well as different thematic focuses on the state of research, architectural and historical contexts and protagonists, a diverse contemporary to current insight is created. The five exhibition sections, which will be conceived and realised on the basis of the work with four partners from Ukraine and one from Poland, will be shown alternately as a coherent exhibition. The objects are a compilation of photographic works currently taken on site, objects from collections, newly conceived contents and revivals from existing exhibitions with photographs, plan representations, graphics and models. The photographic works take on a special significance and leave a strong visual impression.

The exhibition sections thus provide an insight and overview from the history of building and the current situation to the roots and heritage of Modernism in Ukraine. The cities of Kharkiv and Lviv are exemplary not only for the architectural heritage of Modernism in Ukraine, but also for the different actors and their work in the current handling of the heritage, its history and future.
In addition to the contents of the exhibition, the current state of development of digital media projects from Kharkiv and Lviv will be presented, for the recording, mapping and web-based communication of the building stock, history and current situation of modern building heritage, in the form of interactive applications or online maps, which will also be offered for use on site during the exhibition.
